Our horn classes: Where? When? How much?

All FHU teaching is done in group classes, usually of around five or six. This means that we get to know each other, we learn from each other, and there is always a band for ensemble pieces right there.

FHU classes are held in the St Andrews Sailing Club headquarters on Woodburn Place, a nice big room with a kitchen for coffee and a great view of the sea. For a map, click on the address given at the bottom of this page. Here’s our senior group at the Sailing Club rehearsing for the British Horn Society festival:

At present, classes take place after school hours on a Thursday. The actual time depends on the level you are playing at. The beginners usually start at about 4.30, while the advanced group plays up to 7 pm. Please check with us for timings.

The cost?

We try to keep the cost as low as possible. The current rate is £8 per lesson. This compares to a going rate of around £30 or more (much more!). We charge you by the term – so it’s up to you whether you turn up or not. If you have more than one child, or if that cost would still be a problem, please get in touch and we’ll talk about it. We want you to come.

Of course, we don’t just sit inside to study. If it’s a nice spring day, why not get out in the fresh air?  Here’s Margaret running a class on the beach by the Sailing Club…
