FHU has a new patron – MICHAEL THOMPSON
Michael is an international French horn superstar, known for his extraordinary playing and also for his inspirational work with young musicians.
He was appointed Principal Horn of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the age of eighteen, and three years later became Principal of the Philharmonia. He has performed both as soloist and as conductor around the world, from Australia and Japan to the USA. But he has also been much involved in community orchestras and in education, teaching at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
We met with Michael at the British Horn Society annual meeting in Glasgow this year, and he is keen to offer whatever support, encouragement and help that he can. We are indeed lucky to have his patronage. Thank you, Michael!
